Daniel, it grew on me, when we first got it it was first placed in the back parlour. Kind of looked too big. So we moved to the upstairs hallway, now it just seems to belong there. Not to keen on moving it again.
Vala, thanks. We do what we can with out going into the poor house. Antiques, in our view are cheap when you consider the quality, style, and age, so the value is built in automatically. The question becomes finding the right antique, in the right style, in the right condition, and the right price.

One of are smaller antiques, this is an mjolica jardinier, using the English design registration number it dates from 1901.
Bought it about three years ago.
Another bit of Victorian detail.
This pair of Stratfortshire terriers. A favourite of every Victorian home. They were nice things for the working classes in Briton thus cheap at the time. Upper classes also bought them in large numbers as well. The were manufactured from about 1840 to the late Victorian period. Hard to tell the age of this pair but by the crazing in the glazing would think they are closer to early manufacture than later.

It does seem to fit nicely. The proportions of the case seem to match the proportions of the hall. It realy does not over power the space.

I was born and bred in England, just about every single person over a certain seemed to have a set of those terriers when I was a kid. Some are a little creepy looking as they kind of stare at you.

That takes a sizeable space for that to hold true! It looks great

One of oil lamps, this is a Bradley and Hubbard piano lamp we bought a few years ago.
It was converted but they did not drill the font so it should be able to take oil and work with the installation of a centre draft burner.
The lamp with a simple 25W chandelier bulb. We have it the front hall at the bottom of the stairs.
