What is the name for this roof detail?

Post by shazapple »

I came across the name for this a long time ago and have since forgotten it. Basically it goes over an entry which is at the eave of a shed roof. It has a pediment, but I don't think it's a portico.

Sorry for the odd picture. It is scabbed from Google earth since I couldn't find a suitable picture from Google Images!

I think the porch itself is a portico. It has a shed roof with a gable for the pediment which contains the tympanum. No?

What if it is an enclosed porch or just a section of the building with a shed roof? You might be right that it is a Pediment though. I could have sworn I've heard another term for it though!
