Well isn’t that an interesting place. Willa, I don’t know if you ever made up to Hoffmeyers mills but it has the same feel. These are the fine craftsmen who built my storm windows and have also contributed to Willa’s fine home. Although their Jack shafts are powered with an electric motor rather than water wheel.

I could honestly see that place being my dream retirement project. I believe I would also continue to build coffins. It's not like you wouldn't have a steady stream of customers.

My carpentry skills are pretty limited but I can completely insert myself in this new vocation. I mean, holy cow ! Look at that machinery ! I do not know what most of the machines are even called, but I'll bet they all work beautifully.
And look at that place. It's slightly updated but nicely done, in such a beautiful setting.
Those plain old fashioned coffins, handmade, would be a real hit with big city artisinal types, or anyone eco-friendly.
The price just kills me, too. Whew.

that might be a combination tablesaw and jointer. looks like the water wheel ran the machinery, then one motor was used to drive the line shafting. It would have created quite a quiet atmosphere since each machine didn't have it's own motor. all the machinery shares the same shaft so there is only one motor.
what's going on with the ceiling? it looks like they put the 2x4's sideways so they don't have much strength that way. It looks like a neat place for an artistic type to hide away and thrive in the cool workshop. looks like the owner was doing furniture restoration when he didn't have orders. It would be fun to look around as the place looks like a time capsule.
