Hi Everyone!
About a year ago I purchased an awesome Italianate house(in addition to a 1850 greek revival I already own and rent out apartments in) and decided to share the progress I've made so far. The house is a 3 family and I'm in the process of converting it to its original single state(probably renting out rooms on airbnb - I hate real estate that doesn't make money)
Luckily the house hasn't been significantly remuddled - even though it had been broken up into 3 apartments, all the original doors are still there and were just closed shut. The plaster crown molding, medallions and all the trim miraculously survived!
So far I accomplished the following:
- Stripping layers of ugly carpet and wood grain tiles layed over white oak flooring(likely not original though and installed in the early 20th century) Still a huge luck to find that!
- Basic painting and patching in preparation of moving in.
- Completely ripping out ugly baseboards and procuring quite a few matching American Radiator Rococo radiators and then piping them all to a all new condensing boiler.
- And of course daily stripping miles and miles of paint of woodwork.
Upcoming:
- This spring I'm planning on completely ripping out the vinyl off the facade and restoring it to its glory.
- Wallpapering the parlor and the dining room, faux painting the trim.

I have tons of pics, so definitely stay tuned!
Here's my current project of reproducing facade corbels:
The one in the picture is just a practice one. Still 24 more to go!
