Hello!
Hello!
Just joined the forum, been doing some reading and have found it quite interesting. Bought my house 13 years ago and have been slowly working on it. Not sure of the exact year, but it's turn of the century. Closest style I would say is Victorian. House was covered in aluminum siding many years ago so the outside isn't all that special at this point. The porch was the only thing they didn't mess up with aluminum so I still have all the nice gingerbread and turned posts. I have remodeled a few rooms, rewired the whole house, rebuilt/repainted both porches and in 2014 had to replace my steam boiler since that took a dump. I also started doing a complete strip and repaint of the garage last year which is about half done.

Re: Hello!
Nice job on that room. That flooring looks similar to mine, is it Australian Cypress?
Cool looking garage.

No it's yellow pine with no stain, just finished natural. I love the natural look of wood with all the variations and even the knots. Just about every piece of wood in my house is yellow pine. The only exception (that I have found) is the stair railing and newel post which is Chestnut. The guy before me was a house flipper and he painted EVERYTHING so as I remodel I strip and repair the original trim. So far I haven't had any in good enough shape to stain or finish natural except the stair railing. That has been stripped and is in process (along with a few other things).

Re: Hello!
Oh my! What a beautiful nursery! I love the color, and the floor is gorgeous. I'm glad that you showed the pics of the salvaged wood before you refinished it. It gives me hope that mine will turn out as well.
