Made the move, too...

Hi all....from the OWH and WG boards. I'm the one who lives vicariously though all of you. I have a 1972 (yeah, I know, not old) split level, which we are slowly making into a "old" house - sorta. Very much in love the colonial era/look so trying to get my "girl" into mode. My hu...

1950's Stove Restoration

Hi, haven't been here in ages......so I have this question. We have a 1950's 30" gas Roper stove that I purchased off of Craigslist a few years ago. The oven was always off 50 degrees, but you learn to adjust your cooking. Well, now it's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY off, having to keep the knob at ...

Re: Ghostly visitor in my bedroom

Galesc - yeah, we think he did. That's when we knew it was time to get rid of that "professional grade" stove - was causing too many issues. (now have a 1950's Roper!!) When my sweetie was working nights my dog use to sit in the hallway, starring toward the front door, hair up - think it w...

Re: Ghostly visitor in my bedroom

Like Rosemary, I'm the second owner of my house. The P.O. passed away in the garage 30 years ago and I bought the home shortly after. He never left. Although "Tom" has not been really active as of late, he's done loads of things to let us know he's still around - clinking of kitchen cabine...

Re: dried out wood floors

Barney is a red-bone coon hound mix - mostly coon hound - with the floppy ears, silly bark but those nails of his are killing my floors...trimmed or not - it is that click click click. Maybe socks???

Re: dried out wood floors

Rugs would be great but this coon-hound dip did a number on the carpeting that was in the living room - just by the window area...the carpeting was original to the house and he just clawed the crap out of it....we've put plants in that area - he just knocks them down, anything in that window and he ...

Re: dried out wood floors

Will tung oil make the area by my front window, where my dear goofy dog has scratched and ruined the floor, fix the finish, or am I looking at redoing the floors? He's done a good job at wrecking one spot, with surface gouges and ruining the finish. (light oak floors). Other than declawing him or ta...
