A couple of the knockout bathrooms from that :
Vintage Fridge Shopping
Re: Vintage Fridge Shopping
Nice. I particularly like the upper photo, with the darker color combined. Too bad about the white toilet. The bottom is classic. That was the original bathroom floor in the house I'm in now, minus the Tang-red accents.
I was thinking along the lines of these colors:

Re: Vintage Fridge Shopping
I was trying to see if antique home style had some bathroom images with Tang or Rouge, and I'm not finding them.
I did find this though...
on this site: http://www.coolstuffiscoolstuff.com/product_detail.aspx?ID=3019
I'm a bit confused though, it seems they only sold the soap dish in the upper left out of that set so far if I'm reading it right. They do have a different burgundy further down on the page, but it probably wouldn't be an exact match or they would have called it Tang Red and not burgundy.

Re: Vintage Fridge Shopping
here's one I would love to find, because I love radios that are other things. I have a radio lamp a chairside radio which is a table too. ont that is neat is an octagon table with radio much like a kitchen table. I have a few early (30's) clocks with radios.. but this one I have never seen.. Oh I would love one like this:

here is another one

I got a giggle about the comment in the ad.. "the housewife spends 60 percent of her time in the kitchen" lol...
Ive restored a couple of these crosley D-25 radios. I like them. some coin them the dashboard radio as they seem to simulate the dashboard of a older car.
they were originally equipped with big suction cup feet to stick it to the top of a fridge. Its neat because you can paint them any of the half dozen or so colors they came in. I did one in metallic steel blue/grey and I have three that are in chartreuse. these radios also have an outlet that works with the timer so you can plug in a lamp or something and it switches on at the time you set for the alarm. If used as a bedside radio they will turn your bedside lamp on when it goes off.
also I have one like this and they pop up from time to time

I think either one of the crosley D25 radios or the westinghouse refrigerator radio would look pretty cool with one of those fridges. both came in colors.
I love this one too ,, such a neat style!

The Westinghouse H-12X radios remind me a little bit of the speakers we used to hang inside our car doors at the drive-in movies.

it's pretty crammed inside. I have one of these too , about he same size.

there is also a tom thumb bicycle radio and it's roughly the same size too, not very small by today's standards. new capacitors are smaller but with some of these radios they are fiddly to work on as they can be pretty constrained spaces.

Actually, a radio in a refrigerator would be more useful to me than a computer in my washing machine that ties into my smart phone so I can check from work to see what cycle it's in. Like.... who cares!
Re: Vintage Fridge Shopping
I've always kept a radio in the kitchen, sometimes on top if the refrigerator, if logistics permit. And it almost goes without saying that I love the old radios, particularly the Bakelite ones. I just wish they could be tuned in to FM stations.

Re: Vintage Fridge Shopping
I wish I had the time to read every thread on this forum! Who knew that talking about shopping for a vintage fridge could be so entertaining?
When I got married 35 years ago, my husband had been hauling around an ancient fridge from house to house for years. I have no idea what brand it was, but we called it Simba, because it was like moving an elephant, and took Bill and two of his friends to move. We got tired of moving it finally, and when we moved into the house we built, we left poor old Simba in the rental house we'd been living in.

The FM band as we know it first appeared on some 1946 model year radios. Even though it didn't become widely used or popular until the 1960s, most manufacturers had at least one FM set in their lineup from the mid '40s onward. A lot of them from the 1946-50 era still have the classic streamlined look to them and can usually be had fairly inexpensively. For some reason, FM radios haven't caught on with a lot of collectors the way AM only sets have.
