Once again we have lightened our bank account. Purchased this whatnot at a local auction. With Sooths help in ID'ing the clock it turns out to be circa 1900. That is the period I thought the set was from. Only one fly in the ointment is a marriaged set. Getting it home, there are small details that don't match up. The top section with the clock is either an over mantle or a hanging whatnot. The bottom section appears to be a side board, the back board removed.

The down side is it's not a match(dam it) the up side is two pieces of period furniture for the price of one. Th upper section will be an over mantle and the bottom section I' be placing in the up stairs hall.

Since a clock was involved in my last post here a few of my other clocks.
This circa 1885 Joghauns Vienna we purchased a few years ago at auction.

This is Is another unsigned Vienna probably circa 1890 I just call it the R&A clock due to the porcelin script in the porcelin pendulum.

And the last clock a Gibson small mantle circa 1910.

The Gibson is a finicky clock to keep on time, the two Vienna's I have down to about a minute a week.

I've enjoyed this thread. I wish more folks would jump in. Within the past year, I was given a Gilbert mantle clock. My husband winds it. We keep the key right where you keep yours. Oh, and we don't keep it on the mantle. It stays on a buffet in the dining room.

Great looking clocks, the two Seth Thomas clocks, a deliberate purchase? I keep all my clocks going, some thing about the tick tock sound I find relaxing. Visitors find them a bit of a distraction and even annoying when the chimes go off all at once.

Kansas, do you find the Gilbert hard to keep on time? I've been fussing with mine for months trying to find that sweet spot between fast or slow.

Thanks Neighmond, that is my husband's very favorite clock. Gothic, those Seth Thomas clocks are sought after collector clocks. We do keep those running always. :) They are weight clocks and very accurate.
