Has anybody attempted this? I have a claw foot tub that's a bit gritty on the bottom making for a very uncomfortable bathing experience.
I'm not sure what kind of paint/finish is necessary, prep, etc...

Re: Refinishing a claw foot tub
I believe they sell kits for refinishing tubs but I have not used one.
Our clwfoot tub (from the 1936 addition) was refinished on the inside by the PO, we did the feet and outside when we bought and remodeled.
The refinished interior of the tub is far from perfect, but it is smooth and shiny and makes for a comfortable bath. I don't know if they did it DIY or had it done.
My only concern doing it myself would be getting good even coverage and no drips. I would probably have it done by a pro so as not to waste the time and money if I screwed it up and I am an avid DIY'er who will normally attempt anything at least once
