One of the finishing touches in our dining room makeover was a radiator cover.

My wife knew it was on the to do list and was surprised when she came into the shop.

Good job! It suits the room perfectly.

Very nice Paul. Is it Pine? What did you use for the screen part?

I used poplar. It is a great wood when painting - finishes very well.

The screen is from the big box store. It took 2 sheets (24x36).

Oh wow! I had some made for my 1933 apartment in Brooklyn in the '90s, but they didn't look nearly as nice as that!

It has been quite awhile since I have posted an update, and I saw a post about the lack of traffic on the site. This is my attempt to provide some updates.

We recently completed the makeover of two more rooms. The finishing touch was to add radiators covers like we did in the Dining Room.
Here are the latest two additions - Before and After.

If folks are interested I can share some shots of the build process.

Paul, very nice work indeed. Built better than any thing store bought. Oh, to have a shop set like yours, and the antique carpenters bench as well.
Now that those honey-do’s are done, what is next on the list, I saw windows in the background?

The original pics do show windows that I restored. They have been completed and installed. They were the first of many that have to be done. My approach is to tackle the windows when I restore a room.

Now that those covers are done, I am tackling a few shop projects. My work habit is to alternate my projects - after completing a home project I get to work on a shop project. We moved into our home just over 3 years ago and most of my shop is still in boxes.

While I was waiting for the joints to glue or paint to dry, I finally added an outfeed table for my tablesaw and now I am making doors for my shop cabinets.

There is never a shortage of projects. The next home effort may be repair 6 pairs of exterior shutters, make 10 pairs of plantation shutters for the interiors, or 10 interior storm windows. My wife will surely help me to decide.

I created a little video of the process. If it is not appropriate for the site, I will take it down.
