i think mine is just 3/8ths plywood. does that meet code?

It depends on where you are. It doesn't in Texas. Sadly, it didn't when this house was built either, but they did it anyway.

Also, most roof warranties specify decking suitability...and 3/8ths ain't it.

It just occurred to me I should check because I was thinking about another layer and it might not meet code. We dont' get the hurricanes you do but we do get some snow load. I can check with local carpenters. I wonder if you can just double up or if capillary action is an issue.. That would save the tearing off of the plywood at least.
