Good stuff, Ron. Were these tiles mostly used for fireplace surrounds?

James, nope. They were used for all sorts of things, wall decorations, back splashes for wash stands and sinks. The heavier tiles were used for fancy floors in hallways and vestibules. The heavy ones were often used outside in the weather as short walkways from the street the the front steps in a lot of row houses.
