Re: what to do with free flexible stucco and fibeglass ?
Seriously - this is how serious hoarding starts - with the "I don't have a use for it now, but I might in the future". Even 730 empty buckets take up a considerable amount of space. 730 buckets filled with goop that may be at or past the expiry date is a disaster waiting to happen, particu...

Back away, Phil ! This is how hoarding happens. It's a slippery slope.

Re: Oven Rant
What about replacing this vintage stove with another vintage stove with the same dimensions ? I don't know how active Craigslist, etc. is in your area - but this may be the least expensive option ? Obviously you would need to find one in good working condition. The Old Appliance Club can assist with...

Re: How tall is too tall - kitchen cabinets
Personally, I like the look and function of cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling. Cabinets that have an open space on top, where decorative items are displayed are great in theory - but unless you are a super fastidious housekeeper that stuff way up gets covered with that fine sticky grease f...

Re: Saga of the 1830 House
I suspect the house had a serious case of "deferred maintenance" and it sounds like the PO may have been a hoarder (reading between the lines of the first article). BUT - unless what was being hoarded was rotten food, live animals or fecal matter I strongly suspect that there was plenty in...

Saga of the 1830 House
Last fall I saw a listing for this house. Stoney Creek is a part of Hamilton, which is a small city about an hour from Toronto: m The realtor who bought it - who had no previous history whatsoever of restoring heritage property - claimed a family member would be living in it: m Meanwhile the local h...

Re: Toronto 1950's Double Oven Deluxe Gas Stove
As far as I could tell, the seller had a rental property with this stove in it. He probably wanted to sell the stove and replace it with something modern to be able to charge more rent. I googled his name and he is a realtor. Property values are insane in Toronto, and so are rental prices. Replace t...

Re: Um...bedroom sconces??
Our house had sconces only in two of the bedrooms. My ex worked with the electrician and fished lines to have proper ceiling lights. The repairs to the plaster where the sconces were was minimal and I don't think it was a big job. You might consider this v.s. searching for sconces. Future buyers mig...

Re: Toronto 1950's Double Oven Deluxe Gas Stove
Maybe you would have more luck with that seller ? The posting has been up for two months now. I chewed him out via email for the whopping difference between what he told Gothichome and me. He tried to claim the difference in price was due to him "making a mistake" though $ 1700 does not so...
