Re: Salvaged door conundrum
We've been working on our house for over 5 yrs. now and using "placeholders" (things that serve until we find something better) has worked well for us. Procrastination works, too. We recently bought five doors containing frosted glass, for about $50 each, that work well for the rough openi...

Re: Hallowe'en, and what you do at your old house...
The number of trick-or-treaters we get has been declining steadily since we moved in 8 years ago. It's not us but the changing demographics of the neighbourhood and the rising popularity of school/church/civic sponsored Halloween parties. It probably also has something to do with a lack of sidewalks...

Re: how to apply poly
So acting stupid is okay if it is finacially rewarding ? Where did I say anything was okay or not? Huh? I get so sick and tired of people accusing me of saying things I simply did not say. I'd really like to know what I've ever posted on HD to make me a target of sarcasm and hate. Whatever it is, I...

Your use of the reflexive is quite Spanish, too. ¡Olé!

Re: Where Wild Things Grow When I Don't Mow
Elsewhere, on HD, I've shared my adventures eradicating poison ivy and my beginning process of reclaiming the perimeter of the yard, up to 30' from the boundary, back from English ivy. As I near completion of the latter, I find that part of the yard I first cleared of English ivy has a new tenant: h...

I've seen similar vids, made by women, re: various survival/camping skills, metal detecting, etc. Some have become quite YouTube financially successful.

As a non-native speaker I don't even understand how you guys learn this stuff as kids. It doesn't me surprise people can't spell. There's no rhyme or reason to how most words are spelled(at least not practically applicable) It's complete madness. You might even say weird. [pic of mug removed] It's ...

I don't think anyone owns the language though. Just because some bigwigs at Oxford say words should be spelled certain way or have a certain meaning, doesn't make it so. Language is a living thing that is constantly evolving. Of course that doesn't apply to examples of dyslexia or stupidity . Actua...

Re: Installing Porch Windows
For what you're proposing (installing windows along the back wall), it's a very easy project and the structural issues are easily addressed. Two groups of two adjacent windows would be very easy and take an hour or so to frame out. Putting all five windows adjacent in a row could be more problematic...
