Re: Shellac alternatives for bathrooms?
I used repurposed beadboard in my bath. Of course we open up the door right away to share the humidity with the rest of the house and cloudy finish on the wood has not been a problem at all.

100% wood windows Who makes them?
The window in the kitchen just broke. I now have 3 crappy vinyl windows the house flipper put in fail. I have not had great success going to the big box stores. The huge picture windows I replaced in my back room I had told the guy I wanted wood. The windows were custom ordered and not returnable. T...

Re: facebook facebook facebook!
There is a lot of stuff I post on FB in concerns of old houses I would never bother with here.
This is a serious site, focused on substance and good advice.
FB does have some smart advice but you have to sift through 21,367 posts of "isn't that pretty" to find it.

Re: Ghost Posts.... Your Spooky Tales Wanted
The place where I found that photo was from a blog where she described she lived in 2 out of 3 houses that were haunted.
I have seen things "dart" from corners very occasionally. Mine has to be caused by caffine because I don't drink wine

Re: Ghost Posts.... Your Spooky Tales Wanted
I am still scratching my head a bit but after being in the house for over 11 years I finally think I saw my first ghost. I was helping my friend with her ballgowns for some upcoming dances. We had fitted and took photos in the front parlor, the place where a few sensitive people have told me they fe...

Re: Crown Molding and Chair Rail Ideas needed. I need MORE HELP!!!!!
Thank you Annie. I did post this among some other old house people and got some ideas and a few even did a mock up (photoshop) for me... the pilaster the entire height of my wall is going up and once I put in the crown molding and the chair rail everything should flow. Now I have to finish the wallp...

Re: Crown Molding and Chair Rail Ideas needed.
Need another solution. I am getting ready to do the unfinished part of the dado on the staircase and there is a distinct "jog" in the area transitioning from the stairs to the wall (see photo) Should I put a strip of vertical corner beading there or try to do the whole thing with a pilaste...
