Re: Baby steps towards the future gardens of Beebe
We never did hear from the neighbor moving out to the west exactly when they were moving. Turns out, they waited until the end of the month, spilling into the beginning of this one. During the rains. I need to suck it up and get out there in the rain to start digging the wood trellis she said I coul...

Re: Traditional Porch Construction
Was catching up on some old house articles today, and thought of this thread when I was reading about "Dutchman repairs". I think from your original post one porch will be an entirely new build, but I think the other may be extend back to what would have been the original size. If the one will be an...

Re: Clamps and Vices
Just saw this video thanks to a link on another site I haunt. I did not know this existed, and now I want one. Video is about the restoration of said vise.

Re: Questions as I restore my first window
use a natural bristle brush, plastic fiber ones can't take oil paint. ^ What he said. It will tell you on the package if it's for oil or latex. A good-quality brush is worth the price and will last a long time if you're diligent about cleaning it properly. I'm chiming in to agree, as someone that i...

Re: The Gardens of Retriever Ridge
I am envious of your inherited plants. Our backyard still looks very much a meadow, but I'm working on unearthing our usual beds over time. Speaking of which, I need to get back out there before the heat of the day sets in again. You can also try a google image search for IDs. It's the onl...

Re: Baby steps towards the future gardens of Beebe
Yet another day that Sean was supposed to have off and spend an hour with me in the garden evaporated into thin air when his current postmaster called and asked if he could come in and finish a route. Hopefully the carrier's ok. (One got a sting in the eye roughly a week ago.) So again today, it's j...

They are really nice, Ron. Nice finds. And so many wonderful pictures overall of late, which I forgot to mention in my last hastily made post. Here's the third bloom I spotted earlier today on the older yellow daylily plant in the garage bed. Both are budding, and there are two more blooms on...

Re: Lumber "shortage"
When we ran an errand that happened to take us past our local National Lumber store, I noticed lumber sitting too. Fortunately we don't have immediate need, so hopefully things will have evened out a bit by then. Related, this video popped up in the right column video list on my Youtube even though ...

Re: Farmhouse over the Moat
Thanks for the updates. The stairs and the door are beautiful. I love the built in storage in your sun porch window seat. Big fan of having dual functional furniture when possible. Great progress. Hope the seam work goes smoothly during mudding. In an older work studio I had back in the da...
