Re: Gothichome, the restoration of.

Have guests staying next week so I had to tar down the scaffolding, clean up and put things back in there place. Only to tear it all apart and reassemble the scaffolding. Let me tell you plaster bust ...

Re: Thornewood Antics

James, well looks great. The darker tone brings out the details of the raised carving. Also, the grain of the oak came out with great success, well done.

Re: Thornewood Antics

James, I think that’s exactly what they would have done at that time to bring a little pizzaz to the peice. As far as stripping I think with the give away price of run of the mill Victorian and Edwardian flat board furniture stripping and refinishing is not such a tabo thing. Now stripping and chalk...

Re: Gothichome, the restoration of.

But progress is p...

Re: Thornewood Antics

James, that number is the design register. Used after 1884,by 1889 it required a country of origin,so you can date it to between 1885 and 1889. just looked up the number, if I am reading it correctly the number 90483 was used in 1888

Re: Thornewood Antics

James, this looks like a good place to use one of those stripper products you paint on and then cover with a film for a couple of days. Your .75 cent jug is beautiful, how come I can never find such a good deal. Does the bottom have a ‘made in England’ stamp on the bottom or just England? It would b...

Re: Gothichome, the restoration of.

James, I suspect the forced air was installed about 1962, that was the age of the old furnace I had replaced with new seven or eight years ago. Brick wall paper was all the rage in 62. We have purchased an antique mantle with cast iron fireplace front to go against this wall. I will once again adapt...
