Fortunately, the woodwork is about 99 percent salvageable, but the plaster is not. We will be removing all of the plaster in the house (spare me the hate mail) since we had to remove a lot to structurally support the house. I would definitely not recover and reuse the wires. Either re-solder or use new sockets. If that older wiring were to heat up, you could have a dangerous short on your hands.

The heat probably will not affect the spices. Most of the time spices go bad just from age. I went through my spices and found garlic salt that was barely salty! It is balloon framed with slate shingle looking fiber cement siding with a wavy edge. Unfortunately the clapboards and some pressed tin panels are gone. The downstairs is gutted mostly.
