Re: Looking for 2 product recs: Marble & Wood
Blop it is. I keep a batch mixed up at all times. Sadly this is the only unpainted window in the entire house and there are 140 windows total (!). I've got a whole blog and a podcast. I could bore you in a hot second, but I hope I wouldn't. PM me for the info if you like, or if Admin is amenable, I...

Re: Looking for 2 product recs: Marble & Wood
The wood on the window is unpainted with enough shellac left on it that it does not need to be refinished. I used the word original to denote unpainted. It was clear to me. If you all could be mind readers from now on that would be awesome. Here is a pic. http://www.blakehillhouse.com/wp-content/upl...

Re: Looking for 2 product recs: Marble & Wood
The solution for dry wood, "blopentine" (a word coined by our own Jade Mortimer - BLO - boiled linseed oil + turpentine, in 50/50 proportions) does a great job. I would dip 0000 steel wool into the mixture and gently buff it into the wood. Let it sit overnight and wipe down with a cloth. ...

Looking for 2 product recs: Marble & Wood
I'm am looking for two product recommendations. The first is for marble. I am restoring a marble sink top, and there are significant rust spots in one section. I can buy commercial poultice powders for this purpose (alliteration, anyone? ), but I am wondering if there is a DIY version. Would a bakin...

Re: Can We Talk About the Speedheater paint remover?
I guess I misread your comment. $25 sounds like a fair price for something you'll probably have to replace at some point along the way. I don't think you misread my comments. I think I did not explain myself well. I currently have a Wagner heat gun, but I was thinking of upgrading to the Speedheate...

Which one?
I have the $25 Wagner heat gun. It works great. I just thought the Speedheater might work better and safer.

Can We Talk About the Speedheater paint remover?
I am >this close< to pulling the trigger on purchasing one, but it is so much money! Does anyone have one and love it? hate it? I am looking specifically at the Cobra. It will be used mostly for doors and windows.

Boy, what some elbow grease and a few coats of paint can do ! Your improvements look fantastic. I had to go back and check your before photos to see that was the original door. It looks really fresh, in a color combination that works really well. Thank you, Willa, Manalto, and Gothichome It is hard...
