Re: New Life to an Old Foundation
This is it completed for the time being, I ran out of rocks from the front of the house. Then proceeded to located two people via craigslist and take a large amount from both. I do feel bad for whomever is lucky enough to ever try removing this large wall because there is a LOT of rocks even as it s...

Re: New Life to an Old Foundation
Its worth noting this wall isnt finished yet, not to disappoint. Its close to being done but as with anything I've had idea on how to improve it ei: like a firepit. Moving on... 20130902_112947.jpg 20130902_175417.jpg 20140514_195241.jpg 20140526_184500.jpg 20140601_091008.jpg 20140601_091026.jpg

Re: New Life to an Old Foundation
Notalented, I can see the reason for the wall, looks like the erosion has made it all the way to the garage. Looks like the plan is to take it all the way to the house? It's not so much erosion but a better looking backyard with more usable space instead of a hill. I dont plan on connecting it to t...

Re: New Life to an Old Foundation
I may be getting a little off topic with this portion of the work log since this move on to a retaining wall which is hardscape but bear with me. In a way it's foundation related since I'm using it to retain land around the house and if you look at the last picture it was also the solution to gettin...

Re: Opinion Question: Remove the storm door?
The picture, for me at least, is not clear what is going on above the storm. Another vent window or stained glass? Based on that one picture alone I thought the storm stopping the way it does and having a recess above it looks undesirable, in my own opinion.

Re: New Life to an Old Foundation
Well that looks a whole lot better. Really don't know what was holding every thing in place. Is the whole lot in the same condition? I believe the camera was making the light coming through really bright exagerating the holes, not to make light of it (pun not really intended.) The stones, as with m...

Re: New Life to an Old Foundation
Back tracking a small bit but this is what some of the foundation wall looked like on the inside before the outside was completed. 20140728_182424.jpg 20150208_160246.jpg This section of wall show what it all looks like before the magic happens (aka jointing and brushing) 20150118_150218.jpg ... and...

Re: New Life to an Old Foundation
A panoramic view of everything thus far... 20140922_122243.jpg At this point I've back filled and we're at grade again. Their is a bit more work left to do above grade in certain spots, but that much is evident, the part you can't see will come with the interior work. 20141006_123313.jpg 20141006_12...

Re: New Life to an Old Foundation
So this is where it all began, I started by digging out along the outside and prepping the wall for the work to come. Living in an area pron to frost, I dug below 40'' or more from ground level with is most of the way down the foundation wall. 20130928_164203.jpg 20140729_185941.jpg At this point I ...
