One side done...

Well, I can do inside work in the winter, but not so much siding and painting. And this was the corner where the downspout went into the cistern. Things were rather rotten underneath.

I realized I never posted a picture of my barn, so here’s one. It’s in pretty good shape, but the little bit of work it does need will have to wait until after the house. Also, I will have to comply with the higher railings for what I call the balcony. Some things can’t be avoided.

Thanks for all the kind words. Yes the stairs are now in the original location, and as close to the original proportions as I can tell. I am very fortunate to have some one (Amish) who can do fine cabinetry to rebuild my windows and replicate the stairs. I built the back porch myself. Gothichome, th...

Here is a picture of the house really showing my 'moat' and the bridge. I got the two dining room windows out and took them to a local Amish woodworker to be rebuilt.
