Re: Matching the old Bathroom fixtures

Maybe three small rooms at the end of the month. So far all my deadlines are dead. After the floors, then the woodwork and the furniture. But my wife wants me to do the larger rooms. The small rooms are good for the 1906 standard: lone salesman traveling and staying overnight; meeting rooms for sale...

Re: Matching the old Bathroom fixtures

I have been busy with three projects: the second bath, not complete; Hanging the sheetrock, complete; and working the floors, in progress. I have updated my website I think this is a new door to get there: HistoricHotelBerry.com

Re: Matching the old Bathroom fixtures

When working with large tiles like these. it is important to have the walls straight. In an old house this can be tricky. Our first walls were not straight so we used a lot of mastic to make the differences. Big learning curve. Somehow, in this third bath, the walls were bulged in a certain place. I...

Re: Matching the old Bathroom fixtures

Phil, if you look up "One hole faucet" there are many choices where both the hot and cold come up through the same hole. no mixing valve needed. We cut the triangle tiles for the second bath today. I had to remember what I did last time. I call it a six inch tile because that is the height...

Re: Matching the old Bathroom fixtures

Great comments guys. I recreated the separate faucets because of the vintage. Although it would have been easier to find a plate to cover one hole and get a "pump handle" type single hole faucet. That would have been my second choice and probably better when it comes to function and comfor...

Re: Matching the old Bathroom fixtures

I was surprised to learn the going price of these tubs is greater than the coveted clawfoot -- nearly twice as much. It looks as if whoever added the plumbing back in '28, used the top of to the line Kohler and went all out. Except they did not use tile, they used a type of linoleum. Guess what time...

Re: Matching the old Bathroom fixtures

I found one site that has a tub similar to mine. Because it was original enamel and in good condition the price was (Wow). This tub is in good condition. An 'eraser' with elbow grease has removed most of the rust. I just updated my web site so you can see the progress on m I am now preparing to atta...

Re: Matching the old Bathroom fixtures

My objective is to restore the building while bringing it up to code. The Hotel Berry was built before Water and Electricity came to town. They were not original to the building so I allow myself a free hand on these. By the way, the original piping for the gas lighting is still here. Yes. the three...

Matching the old Bathroom fixtures

I am finally at the point of completing my first upstairs bathroom Although I am plumbing four baths at the same time, the tiling and completion can be one at a time. Each bath takes one 10x10 room. I plan on three baths per floor. I am using three lines of PEX-A for the plumbing. These are insulate...
