Re: Our First House!
Want to sell some of it? I think I know someone who could bring it to me the next time he goes to Mobile. Hey, James! Thanks for the kind words, we are happy with how it turned out! Jess is very happy not to have to wear shoes to do the laundry anymore lol. Haha, we have grand plans for it otherwis...

From a add placed in 1895
Yes, I saw that! I originally thought they were newer, but this confirms it.

Re: Our First House!
The better floor is a huge improvement. It looks nice with the warm wall color, too. Thank you! We are trying to make the space function a bit better. I’ve decided to repurpose some of the hardware from around the house - hooks, brackets, etc., found in closets and the redone bathroom. We found som...

Facebook Marketplace. We scored a full roll of a marbled beige, 2/3rds of the color you see, and the remnants I used. All for about $200. The full rolls weighs 500lbs!

Re: Our First House!
After 4.5 years of living with a partially finished laundry room, we finally made the move to finish the space. Originally a back receiving/mud room, we decided to make this space a laundry room. The alternative was to keep the laundry in the basement, forcing us to go down three flights of steps. I...

Re: Our First House!
Are the pins to hold the window when it is opened, since there are no sash weights? Are there corresponding holes in the frame? We haven't gotten that far as to take out the windows. The one in the laundry area we did free took considerable effort to open. My guess is - maybe? I would love to take ...

Re: The one that got away.....
I sometimes long for https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/319-Grove-St-Oradell-NJ-07649/37986399_zpid/ house, in the same town just a few blocks over. It was similar to mine, just bigger and with a very big garage. It was also more money, but it would have been doable by the time it sold a year later ...

Sorry - the pictures got turned. Here is a better idea of placement. The pin is just pushed and pulled through the sash into a hole.

Re: Our First House!
Once Matt found the markings on the original blueprints, it made sense. There are these little push-pin looking things on the sash that I wondered about for a couple of years but never made the connection! What is the function of the push-pin looking things ? My window does not have them. I will po...
