I would love it . I can see dark stain, get rid of the scrolled trim like you said and change the bottom door fronts. Change the hardware.

I would not use any wood in your cellar as it is a wet one confirmed by your needing a sump. Any wood would hold moisture, mold, smell, rot. Get some cheap patio block (.99 per) to form a cover.

Agree with Gothichome , a competent contractor. Ask for the mathmatic formula of your load and the remedy recommended in your quote. Maybe you just need to beef up the beam and posts.
