I know what these are now
Thanks to curiosity about whether the kitchen lino was also a rug style, it quickly became painfully obvious what the trim bits were for once I got the first full plank of underpad for the vinyl pulled up because you can see the ghost edge. Perfect fit if the nails weren't still sticking out the back (I was not about to try to put them back in just yet).
They are the base trim so the doors have something to lay flush with when the flooring is at an older height.
